He comes from a rural community in Arkansas where he developed an early love for the outdoors. He soon found himself inspired to paint country and ranch scenes of the American West using oils or acrylics. He is a self taught painter with the philosophy that you learn by doing. This along with a passion for the Southwest, evolved during many trips to New Mexico, has inspired the works you see today.
When he married his wife, from France, in 1979, they began to travel to Europe where he was introduced to the work of the old masters and Impressionists .
When he is not traveling, he divides his time between his residences in Sacramento, California and Taos, New Mexico.
His inspiration comes from more than a keen observance of life in the West, you can often find him riding his Arabian endurance horses through the Sierra Mountains. He is also an accomplished horseman winning first place in the National Endurance Ride in 2003.
Whether competing or creating, he feels that his vast experience is a reflection of the diversity of his work.
Chuck has shown many of his pieces in Lake Tahoe, Aurburn and the surrounding Sacramento area. He currently enjoys a popular and successful place in the Blue Moon Art Gallery in Taos, New Mexico.
